The use of rechargeable batteries, especially lithium-ion batteries, continues to grow as our use of technology and mobile devices grow. Unfortunately, how to manage them is often confusing and complicated for both the consumer and the solid waste management industry. Furthermore, if not handled properly they easily start fires in landfills, hauling trucks, recycling centers, and material recovery facilities.
This webinar will discuss current and future challenges for the waste industry in managing used rechargeable batteries (and the devices they power), packaging requirements for sending batteries to recyclers, and what information studies struggle to provide. Participants will be encouraged to share their stories and perspectives as well.
